The breeding program that is used in the stables of Tito Pontecorvo in Russia and the U.S. tries to accomplish two tasks. First, it creates offspring that are typical of the Akhalteke breed, that have all the attributes to win in breed shows. Second , it raises large horses with the correct exterior and precise and efficient movements without which you could not have a horse of high sportive class.

Judging by the results of various competitions (breed shows and sportive competitions) held all over the world, in which the horses born and raised in Tito Pontecorvo’s stables participated, we can say that all these horses have a very distinct type and that they have shown themselves to be highly sportive horses.

I never cut the mane of my horses. By the way, the thickness of the mane is one of the serious details that makes the original look of an Akhalteke horse. The rare mane is one of the special elements that makes a champion in this breed. Translation: Я никогда не стригу гривы у своих лошадей . Кстати, малая густота и толщина волос в гриве и чёлке является одной из серьёзных деталей, делающей своеобразный облик ахалтекинской лошади.

All the photos and videos of horses in this web-site are made from horses that were born in Tito Pontecorvo’s stables in Russia and USA.

Every year in Moscow, Russia the largest Akhalteke breed show is held, in which the ten best horses (best in type, exterior and bloodline) are picked and from these ten the champion of the world is chosen.

In 1997 and 1998 there was a grading of the pure blood Akhaltekes in Switzerland-in 1997 the 1st place was taken by Goblin (from Gigant and Angema) and in 1998 the 1st and 2nd places were awarded to Mazarina(from Mamuk and Galateia) and Gaian (from Gigant and Angema).

In 1999, in the group of 2 year old stallions, stallion Tom (from Melesur and Tepele) took 3rd place. In the group of 3 year and older mares, mare Galambia (from Melesur and Galateia) took 6th place.
In 2001, in the world famous 103rd annual Fiera Cavalli in Verona, Italy, stallion Tom (from Melesur and Tepele) became the star of the show.

In 2001 in the championship of Russia, in a large horse show in Moscow, stallion Gagur (from Gigant and Gumsara) took 1st place and the title of champion of the breed.

In 2002, in a large show in St. Petersburg, Russia, stallion Gagur (from Gigant and Gumsara) took 2nd place. Karagach is the full brother of Gagur.

In the group of 3 year and older stallions, stallion Buian (from Beduin and Iagti) was awarded 4th place. The following year in the very same championship in Moscow, Galambia (from Melesur and Galateia) took 3rd place. Stallion Buian (from Beduin and Iagte) took 6th place and stallion Tom (from Melesur and Tepele) took 7th. In 2002, in the same championship in Moscow, stallion Tom (from Melesur and Tepele) took 5th place and stallion Samarkand (from Mamuk and Sona) took 9th place.

In 2003, in that same championship, two horses from the stables of Tito Pontecorvo were awarded 1st places and received the titles of champions of the world among 1 ½ year old horses. These two champion horses are a chestnut stallion by the name of Enchik (from Tagir and Enegul) and a gray mare by the name of Mulan (from Amanat and Mulga).

Stallion Samarkand (Gigant/Sona, Guelishikli line) in the winter of 2004 in a large show in St-Pitersburg got the first place. The Second was another stallion born in Tito Pontecorvo’s stables stallion Karagach (Gigant/Gumsara, Guelishikli line).

In 2004, in the very same horse show in St. Petersburg, the 1st and second places were taken by stallion Samarkand (from Mamuk and Sona) and Karagach (from Gigant and Gumsara).

Judging by the grading results in 2000 in France, the best horse was Annushka (from Aladin and Huanita), who is offspring of the horses from the Pontecorvo stables.

The high quality of horses from the stables of Tito Pontecorvo has been proven again and again with champions from breed shows all over the world and the excellent performance and results in sport shows. All this demonstrates that the breeding program that is used by Tito Pontecorvo in his stables is well thought out and that the mares and stallions that are used in them are of very good quality.
